You will instead start close to the "boundary" of the shape and end back close inside the boundary. Yes - and if you wanted an encapsulated negative space cut out of a shape, it would makes sense to close that path

  @Boldline Transform tool could not do much with text on path before either. But one thing to do is setting the vertical character scaling factor in the Characters panel.

  @William-Kansepa Tools can be customized. I think the Move tool is too specialized to be grouped with the transform (primary) tool. And grouping could also interfere with tools selection, causing the toolbox to popup multiple tools. One thing that could be done in the future is to have the selection box hidden (or just a basic box) in transform mode.

  @VectorStyler Thank you I think the use of an invisible frame is a passable workaround so far. Even though I would have liked to have this option in the panel from time to time, with a live preview. . . ...If there is a good ideas / UI for controlling the mask frame, let me know.... Well, my UI creating skills are equal to zero. But I'll think about it.

  @tudor @VectorStyler Part of this request has been made before in the forum (the tangent lines) and I agree this would be an amazing feature to add to VS. One of the hardest things to get perfect are the lines between circles like that. There are so many great uses for that.

No need to drag it (to change the rotation) but the mouse must be pressed first and then the shift pressed. The reason is that Shift+Click and Shift+Drag are used for modifying the selection. When the cursor is close to a corner of the bounding box and changes to a rotation indicator, it means the app detected and "switched" to rotation mode. So I don't see why it cannot be more forgiving and accept Shift before you click-and-drag to rotate, since it's in "rotation mode" already. I don't see how it would conflict with Shift-drag. (Btw, what is Shift-click supposed to do when in Select/Transform mode?)

The collider tool has been one of the best features of VS for me, I seem to use it for countless jobs where I would previously have used the AI rotate tool. Having said that, the AI rotate tool does work better than the VS version AFAICS - especially when the rotate fulcrum can be snapped to a node and the remaining rotation point then snapped to whatever is required to be rotated to (but the collision tool is still way better LOL ) Neil

  @b77 Selecting with a mouse and full-size keyboard. There are no jpegs in the problem document. That was an earlier issue I'd reported. Some were grayscale, some were CMYK, some were RGB. None worked. I could only import eps files prior to the reset. Now it seems jpegs work as they ought, so I might be able to re-do the current problem file with a jpeg and see if that makes it small enough to email. Maybe some other issues are fixed as well. I'll keep an eye out. At any rate, the reset did not fix the selection issue, or the layer display issue, but using the "text on Path Anchor" option has made all those issues disappear. No idea why but good riddance! Everyone's been extremely helpful and I appreciate it.

  Ah, seems to help with a nap before thinking these days. The curvature tool in Illustrator must be Adobes equivalent to the spiro path in Inkscape - that we discussed here: Inspiration: Inkscape vs Affinity Designer review
