Layers Panel trashcan deletes text from Text on a path one character a time

In one instance, the Layers panel trashcan deletes/truncates characters in a text element connected to a path one character at a time from the beginning of a text string. So something isn't working correctly there. Remaking the path and connecting some text with it doesn't reproduce the issue and I had even tried duplicating it as I had done that before with <Enter>. I'll try to see if I can get it to reproduce.

This happens only when the text editor is active.
