[M1] Problems using the brush, path sketch and pencil tool.
-
Good morning, and yes i broke it again.
As you can see in the video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihS-7rff7Lg there a few things going on at the same time...
- My custom brush selection isn't sticking and i have to reselect it before every stroke.
- The stroke will sometimes appear else-wear.
3. I cannot select the object with the select tool, only through the layers panel.
4. I haven't caught this one on video but the "merging" toggle isn't doing anything for me, the strokes will merge if i touch on one irregardless of the setting. Unless of course i am misinterpreting what it does.
Running the latest build 1.0.019

@Kyriakos Added this to the backlog as a bug. Is this on dual display setup (with M1)?
-
@Kyriakos If I understood correctly the issue: the merging will create a union of shapes with similar style. To merge regardless of style, use the union (third icon in the shape operations group) mode.
Only filled objects can be merged or united. To create a filled object from a stroke, use the Expand Stroke from the style menu.
-
@vectoradmin Yes, on a dual monitor setup on M1.
As for the merging, i meant the "Merging" toggle under the brush tool settings which makes your stroke merge with an existing one if you start drawing over it, It's working right now but it wasn't doing anything before with all the rest going on.
-
If it helps in any way, this is what i am getting in Console while running VS, let me know if you want me to provide something more specific.
The kernel errors are unrelated since they are always there, i forgot to filter them out.
-
@Kyriakos Thanks for the info.
About the earlier Merge question: that option (checkbox) works with the dynamic mode enabled. In dynamic mode, when the Shift key is held, intersecting sketches can be cut at the intersection points. Merge enables the merging of two open paths at these intersection points.
-
@vectoradmin Ok i'll have to try that once the other issues are resolved since random things are happening right now and i can't figure out what the correct behaviour is supposed to be, when i hold down Shift either nothing happens, the stroke becomes unselectable or the entire group disappears from canvas.
-
@Kyriakos Is the Dynamic option checked in the tool bar?
-
@vectoradmin Yes, and toggling the Merging option doesn't seem to do anything different.
-
@Kyriakos This is how it supposed to work: https://recordit.co/IAlQsSKWgX
(the Shift key is held, when the red marker is drawn).
-
@vectoradmin Thanks for that, it's clear now, this seems to be working properly on its own.
-
@vectoradmin Ok we can scratch one off the list as it was due to my error, i had "Select and transform linked objects or image content of objects" toggled which is why i couldn't reselect the spline.

This post is deleted!

@Kyriakos In the new build: the brush preset selection in the brush tool should be persistent for solid stroke presets also.
-
@vectoradmin trying it right now, i am seeing two more issues...
-
Starting from a new document, if i select the brush tool, pick my custom preset from the list and then draw something, the brush will keep resetting to the default one. However if i draw something and then apply the preset it will persist and keep working as expected.
-
I have my custom preset selected, draw something, deselect the stroke, pick the default stroke and draw again. The new stroke appears as a blend between my custom preset and the default one, as if it's recognising my preset as a profile and not a brush.
-
-
@Kyriakos I keep this issue open.
-
@vectoradmin Both issues are fixed for me in the latest build, the brush selection persists and i no longer get a blend of styles.
There's only one minor visual bug left, that is when you have your custom brush selected and make a new document the old brush thumbnail will persist until you draw something, at which point it fixes itself and defaults to the default one.
