Conflicting Keyboard Shortcuts
-
Back again to haunt you Not a true bug as such but ...
Seems that there's a conflicting keyboard shortcut for the Transform Tool (V) and the Shape Edit Tool (A) - at least in my version 1.1.046.
The conflict is in the Shape Editing section of the keyboard shortcuts - it has the Transform Tool as A - I just removed it.
It manifests itself when you press A and then A again (why would you do that he asks ), it toggles between the two tools - just a bit annoying, couldn't understand what was happening LOL Should only happen when actually shape editing, but I removed both shortcuts from the Application Shortcuts section and it would swap to the Transform Tool no matter if you were in a nothing selected situation.
TBH, it's just wonderful that you have all this control over everything - I really do like having commands that I have used for the last 30 years or so, the muscle memory makes it really easy for me (at my young age )
Thanks
Neil

@Igull This can be easily fixed. But I have to check first if it was actually requested to be like this.
VS has contextual shortcuts, which means that in some contexts (like shape editing) the same shortcut key might mean a different action.

@VectorStyler
So you're just trying to introduce confusion then
-
@Igull Switching back to the Select/Transform tool (V) by simply pressing 'A' a second time is convenient because the finger is "parked" there already — no need to hunt for the V key.
I'm not the one who suggested this approach but I like it.
@VectorStyler Not sure, but maybe doing the same with the 'C' key for the Collider tool would be useful?
-
I am also fine with this approach.
As @b77 already said, the finger is already there.

Maybe we can agree to differ on that one
However, one of the great things I love about VS is that it's like the Burger King of vector apps, you can have it Your Way !

Will do that.
