Paste in place not working - pastes older items copied earlier on

Not sure why this is happening, but occasionally when I cut a shape and paste it again, it's pasting the shape I copied earlier on. You can see that in this video example. I cut a shape and then delete a shape that was underneath and then paste the original shape back and it lays down the black original shape group I had copied earlier on in the process
