Unit Soup
-
Should have been an introductory first chapter for a larger explanation on typography in Vectorstyler. But because it goes so slowly and this part is important enough and can very well stand on its own, here is part 1 Units.
-
@Ayo The units can be set globally, but it is possible to override units locally by typing a different unit.
I will review if these various local overrides could be linked.
-
@Ayo I checked this, and currently the local unit is kept only until the view is open. After closing and reopening it returns to the default settings.
This is by design.
I can be changed (to be persistent) but it has its own risks of causing confusion (unit selected preferences would not be the same as font size unit).

@VectorStyler
Globally, locally, settings and document setups it's quite confusing.I just want settings that fit my needs.
3.53mm doesn't mean much to me. 10 points do!
When I specify units for Type as points I want to see points (supervisory). For all VERTICAL text related matters within text frames:
- font size
- line spacing or leading (if not relative)
- baseline shift
- amount of space before/after paragraphs.
There's nothing special about that.
Horizontal text variables like indentation and tabs is debatable and could be an option if you want to see these values in mm or points.

Found the bug. The various leading, etc fields use the wrong defaults. Will be fixed.
