Artboard Options > Grid and Grid Editor units are not synced when creating a new artboard
-
There are two places you can set the grid and its unit for an artboard:
- In the Artboard Options dialog under the Grid tab, and...
- In the artboard's Grid Editor
When creating a new artboard, the artboard unit in the Artboard Options dialog will not be synced with the grid unit found in the Grid Editor unless you specifically select the unit from the unit dropdown.
Example:
- Create a new artboard.
- In the Canvas Panel select the artboard you just created and press the attributes icon (or select Artboard Options in the Canvas Panel's menu).
- Select the Grid tab in the Artboard Options dialog. Depending on how you setup your document (and whatever other factors), the grid unit will be displayed. In my case in the video, by default the grid unit is using Pixels. Close the Artboard Options dialog.
- In the Canvas Panel, the artboard you just created still being selected, click the Grid Editor icon at the bottom of the panel. (SIDE NOTE: I think this Grid Editor command is missing from the Canvas Panel menu. All icons at the bottom of the panel have corresponding commands in the panel menu except for this one.)
- In the Grid Editor the grid unit is not synced up with the unit in the Grid Options dialog. It shows (in my case) Points as opposed to Pixels. Close the Grid Editor Dialog.
- Open the Artboard Options dialog again and select the Grid tab.
- Even though "Pixels" is already shown for the grid Units, select "Pixels" from the dropdown anyway. Close the dialog.
- Open the Grid Editor again. Now the units are synced.
The moral of the story: the grid units MUST BE selected from the dropdown (either in the Artboard Options or the Grid Editor dialog) otherwise they won't sync up by default and will (or can) show different units. So when you create a new artboard, these units should be synced up by default under the hood.

@pentool I added this to the backlog, and will try to fix it ASAP.
