Should smooth/symmetric nodes visbly change to cusp when changed to cusp mode?

I was playing around with a random shape I made in version 48. I noticed that if i selected a node that was smooth and then clicked on the "convert to cusp" tool, there is no visible change in the node. Equally when I select a cusp node and then click on the "convert to symmetric/smooth, nothing visibly changes. This may have been brought up before but I felt it was worth asking about.
When I do similar things in Affinity, there is an immediate visible result.
I think what was explained before was that the node itself was changed, but that the path did not necessarily change as a result... would it make more sense to have it actually change visibly?

@Boldline The problem is that AD also changes the segment types around the node to lines. In VS the segment types remain curves, and there is a separate button to change it to a line.

@Boldline In the new build 1.1.024, clicking again on the Cusp node icon will retract the control points.
Important: this is not a double click. The first (regular) click changes the node type, and then the second (regular) click retracts the handles if the node is already cusp.
