Brush sizes clunky

  • I was trying to change brush sizes of an existing line and the process felt clunky. I'm typically working on 13x19 inch canvases, yet the brush sizes seem to start at one inch and go up from there very quickly. (Using the American measurement system but would be the same issue regardless) It's really hard to imagine people commonly using 40 inch brushes or the equivalent. When I go to use the slider, only a TINY section of the slider is reserved for the smallest sizes of brush. It's too easy to jump up to a 20 or 40 inch brush in no time.
    When I can get the brush to change in much smaller increments with the mouse roller, there is considerable lag between the rotation of the mouse wheel and the brush sizing catching up. Here is a second video - this time I have a stroke selected and I am using the mouse wheel to edit the brush sizing. Sometimes the mouse rotation resisters in the history panel , other times it does not. If I go slower, it does better, but it often does not change the sizing even after going slow. here is the video for that

    I also know I can go into the preferences to the size presets for the brush and add customized smaller sizes that I want, but they do not show up in the brush sizing options after I close the preferences... and when i do open the brush panel sizing, there are odd sizes in there instead - for example, I set one to 0.02, but when I went back to the brush sizing in the brush panel, it was offering 2.88.
    Here is a video of me going in and adding more sizes...and not seeing them show up in the brushes section afterward. i also tried saving my file and restarting VS, but nothing improved.

    @Boldline I see multiple issues here, that can be replicated. I added these to the backlog.

  • @vectoradmin Awesome! I'm glad I was able to help in a small way 🙂
    In a related issue to this overall topic;
    I noticed when I am inking and go to switch the brush size, sometimes if I click on the number, it sets itself automatically to zero and the lines go "invisible" as well as a result of being at zero width. It doesn't happen every time, but this time I was able to catch it in the screen capture video

    @Boldline This could be caused by scrolling with the mouse inside the numeric field.

    @Boldline The brush (and stroke) width adjustment issues are fixed in build 1.0.041. The bracket (or up/down arrow) keys can be used to adjust the width while in the Pencil or Brush tools.
