Holding down shift causes node path to go wonky
-
I don't know if this is a bug or if I have a setting off, but when I hold down shift as I drag a node into position, it seems to want to go all over the place. Here is a video of that happening

@Boldline Holding down shift will snap the angle of the line segment before the node at 45 degree increments.
If there the segment before the node is a curve, then holding down shift will constrain to horizontal / vertical movements.
-
@vectoradmin ok. that makes more sense. My goal was to relocate a node in the path but maintain the same angle as I moved it. In other programs, shift has been the modifier for that task, is there an equivalent one in VS?

@Boldline Only with a bit of configuration: in Preferences -> Modifier Keys, find the "Angle Constraint while Editing" in the list (alphabetical order), and set another key than Shift (or set None).
Then the "Direction Constraint", which also uses Shift will be working.

@vectoradmin Just my opinion, it would think most people would expect that the default action for holding down shift while moving a node, or drawing a line with the line tool, or using the vector eraser or the path brush, or the knife tool, etc... to be "Direction Constraint". I think the "Angle Constraint while Editing" is a great feature, but that to me, would be relegated to a less expected modifier option than shift

I add this to the backlog, to find better defaults.

@Boldline Holding down Shift key will restrict to horizontal or vertical movement only.
