Tibetan fonts are displayed as squares only.

  • hi,

as I am using Vector Styler to draw also with other fonts than roman, I use Tibetan fonts and characters.
unfortunately Vectorstyler draws them as squares only.

    am I doing something wrong?

Currently I use Amandine but its handling of wrapped Tibetan characters is a bit lacking, so I am trying VectorStyler but it only shows squares 😉

    Thanks

@Martin-K What is the font name and what characters are in that text (send us the file to support at vectorstyler.com).

  • @VectorStyler Thank you for the quick reply!

This was actually the right answer/question to improve the subject.

I looked into the fonts issue and I selected the wrong font. Sounds a bit dumb, to be honest 😉
Interestingly, copy/paste in other programs gave me the right result, but in VectorStyler I need to select the right font otherwise the characters are not displayed. Now, the situation is improved but not solved.
    it looks like this:

    0_1766230730027_70ad0758-a84c-499b-ba42-a0f5d5cd3ce5-image.jpeg

but it should look like this:

somehow the characters are not stacked correctly.
The font is called noto sans Tibetan (by google)

Kailasa font is looking even worse:

    but should look like this:

of interest could be that the standard textedit app on OS X can get this right, so it should be an integrated text function to draw the characters correctly.

On the other hand, VectorStyler shows promise because it keeps the accents on top of the characters also in the wrapped text on the path.
    Amadine fails.

    @Martin-K I opened a bug on this.

There are still some text shaping features that are missing from VectorStyler and are planned for the future.

I just sent a file with the two fonts and characters in it to your support email address.

    Thanks for taking this up!

    Yes, it seems so.
Also, it seems to me that Vectorstyler is not 100% OS X native - is this true?
For example, dragging the file name out of the window top to drop the file somewhere (email, folder etc.) is not possible.
Which is a OSX native function....
