tool palette disappears: what made it disappear ?

The tool palette disappears: quitting VS and then reopening it, and creating a new document does not show the tool palette.
only restoring the default workspace brings it back.
is there a keyboard command for showing/hiding the tool palette ?

@BWoo The tool palette can be displayed or hidden from the Panels menu > Toolbox.
There is no shortcut assigned to it.
