Can literally nothing be added or deleted or modified on a locked layer?

  • Leaving room for this being a local glitch, but it appears I can add live text, shapes with the shape tool, and pen strokes, etc to an already locked layer. When I add a path using the pen tool, it disappears from view right away, unlike live text or shapes made with the shape tool....

when I look over in the layers panel - all those added items are there (even the pen strokes that "disappeared" while creating them on the locked layer). this gets confusing because if I accidentally attempt to add to a locked layer, there's not much of a warning that I am on the wrong layer.

For sake of comparison, Illustrator allows nothing at all on a locked layer and any cursor icon used to attempt to create on a locked layer has the strike through symbol next to it. It becomes immediately apparent there's a good "issue" .
Looking at Affinity Designer - it's set up more like VS where it allows you to add to a locked layer set but then not edit again after adding. I think this is a mistake.

I prefer knowing a locked layer is literally locked - nothing can be added to it even.

I literally did this today in VS - I made a layer with an image of text I was going to replicate and lowered the opacity and locked that source layer. I got distracted with a phone call and came back and assumed I was on a layer over-top already and started typing text. The text appeared but was not editable beyond initial typing. It was still on screen but not editable - and it took me a minute to realize it was the locked layer causing the issue.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

@Boldline Managed to replicate some. I think these are just bugs.

@Boldline This problem should be fixed now.
