Will presets slow down the software loading time and performance
-
Hello,
If I save a lot of presets, will it slow down the software loading time and performance? Thank you.

@KF Some specific UI tools may get slower, depending on preset type and tool.
The good:
- startup time is not affected by presets, these are loaded later (on demand).
- most preset types have small size, and even in large quantity these are handled fast.
- if a preset type has no relation to a tool (like envelope has no use of brush presets) then there is no impact.
- in general working with a document, refreshing screen are not affected.
- the only possible impact is when the preset group is loaded the first time (it is loaded on demand, only once).
The bad:
- brush and tiling pattern presets can have a large size, having several 100 of these a few things become noticeable.
- opening the Brush panel, Presets / Styles panels the first time after the app started can be slower.
- selecting the brush tool, again the first time after the app started can be slower.
- also: if the Brush panel was open before the app quit, at starting it will be opened, and this will be a slower startup.
So in general: if there are large and many presets, after the app is running there can be one moment of performance impact per preset type, when the preset is accessed the first time for some reason (tool, panel). After this first time access, all is cached in memory (at the expense of RAM), and the number of these have no impact on performance.

@vectoradmin
Hello, thank you for the information. I think I will avoid adding to the presets.

@KF No need to avoid it just let me know if something slows down, and will treat it as a bug.
