I ran into what looks like a possible issue with the merge function.

I created an object with a stroke, then expanded the stroke so it became a regular shape. After that, I selected it along with another object underneath and tried to use merge function to cut the expanded stroke into the lower object.

Instead of performing the expected merge, VS simply removed the lower object.

I have attempted to perform the same action in default settings and the problem persists.

I have attached a video of the issue

      Steps to reproduce

      1. Create an object with a stroke.
      2. Expand the stroke.
      3. Place another object underneath it so the two overlap.
      4. Select both objects.
      5. Shift M to merge
      6. The lower object disappears instead of the overlapping shapes being merged as expected.

      Im running O.S. Sequoia 15.6CleanShot 2026-08-21 at 19.52.40@2x.png

Here is the file it is displayed in. Merge issue.vstyler

      Thanks for the help!

@Ridgehammer There is clearly a bug here.

As a workaround: in the Path panel menu select "Shape Combine Options" and set the "Iterative Merge" field to 1, (right column of number fields). Then it should work.

I will try to fix this as soon as possible
