Could context bar show color and stroke and fill information for the pen tool when the pen tool is selected?

I noticed that when I click on the pen tool icon or I press "P" keyboard shortcut to make the pen tool active, most relevant information does not automatically appear on the contextual menu like other tools. It's not until I actually click on the screen with the pen tool that the main settings for the pen tool appear. Could this be changed?

That would be nice because there is something to be said for BL's idea if you make the analogy with the real world. After all, you first take the pencil of the right color before you start drawing.
