How to disable value fields scrolling?

  • Is there a way to disable scrolling the value fields using the mouse scroll wheel, for example when setting the Opacity values or Transform coordinates etc?

This is problematic for a number of reasons:

    • Often when scrolling the content of the panels up and down I inadvertently change different values, which is very annoying.
    • Value scrolling is not implemented very consistently – some value fields can be altered by scrolling them while the others cannot.
    • The performance of scrolling the value fields is quite low and there is a considerable lag when doing so, especially when scrolling the transform panel values.

Because of these and possibly other reasons, value scrolling makes the application feel quite fragile and finicky, and makes the user feel as if they have to take special care where to place the mouse cursor and keep the finger away from the scroll wheel to not mess things up accidentally.

Instead I'd much rather we had the ability to "scrub" all the values by clicking and dragging the names of the values. This is already implemented in the program, alas, again not very consistently. Some values support scrubbing and some don't.

  • i would also vote for a more consistently approach to change values in VectorStyler

  • I think I found a setting for this in Settings > Number Editors > Scrolling Mode, which I set to "Clicked" to only allow value scrolling when having the field selected. This has calmed the UX down quite a bit. Note that this setting requires a restart to become effective.

Also, some fields do not seem to respond to value scrolling, like Corner value field on the Context Bar, while the same value field in the Shape panel seems to respond just fine to value scrolling. Is this a bug?

@JuurGroove In Settings -> Number Editors -> Scrolling Mode you can select when you are able to scroll a field.
