I noticed a few things when using the Eraser tool.
First:
Although it is possible to use custom shapes,
the Eraser tool shape is still a circle.Second:
Even if you draw/erase with a custom shape,
the eraser always uses that circle shape.Third, a minor thing
I don't mind at all that open curves can be defined as shapes.
But I don't see any reason why they can be used with the Eraser tool.
Because they do not delete anything.

@Subpath The custom shape is used only when clicking.

I know this topic has been brought up in the past. Is there a reason you want to stay away from the eraser brush maintaining the custom shape even while erasing? There is value in allowing it to work with custom shapes on a click and release as it currently does - but I could also see the value of allowing the shape to affect the active erasing as well.

It does not have much different result when painting, except at the ends.
The other things can be achieved with calligraphic options (angle and scaling in eraser options).

@VectorStyler I don't think it's vital to have, but if available, I would certainly utilize different shapes to get different outcomes when erasing. It does only affect the end of the erased path, but there are plenty of times I do repetitive eraser paths near one another and being able to have a square edge or a triangle, etc it allows for more free flow results. it would also be interesting to see how things like the pressure setting would affect the shape as you erase, etc... If it's not a huge task to add the option , I'd be excited to see it included in VS

i register that allready,
well, I would find it helpful if you had at least a square eraser brush shape
that you could also use for drawing with the eraser

@Subpath @Boldline There are some technical obstacles on using any shapes for eraser (if we want smooth path approximation).
But I will try to find a solution.

thank you, as i wrote a square would be totally fine for me
