VS crash: changing the colour (gradient) of an object after having transformed with clones
-
I've created an object and applied ‘envelope’ as a shape effect, then applied the Transform feature with clones. A change in colour gradient causes VS to crash (crash reports sent).
-
@B-Vs-V I opened a bug on this.
-
@B-Vs-V I got the crash logs, but could not replicate the crash.
Is there a sample file that can be used to replicate this? Thanks!
-
@VectorStyler Unfortunately, I continued to work on this design and - I don't know why - the link between the original object and the clones was lost in terms of colour. In other words, even if I change the colour of the strokes on the reference object, the clones remain unchanged... I can, however, affect a change in shape...

The links gets broken if any of the fill or stroke styles of the clones are changed.

@VectorStyler I managed to repeat the issue. I'm sending you the test file.
-
@B-Vs-V The crash can be replicated here also!
-
@VectorStyler Hope you get it fix soon VS crash if I change various properties of the original object.
-
@B-Vs-V It is fixed, but of course I cannot make a release immediately.
Is there another case where crash occurs?
-
@VectorStyler Of course I did test stroke profile, colour (not gradient) & stroke width.

@VectorStyler Would it be possible to have a warning about the risk of breaking this link before applying a change to the original object? In the workflow, simply by wanting to test some effect, you could inadvertently lose this link... Thanks

Undo should restore the links.

@VectorStyler Yes, of course, but we might not be aware of this break in the link and arrive at an acceptable design after a number of steps that could inevitably be lost. Just a suggestion, but a warning would be appreciated...

@VectorStyler I've found a workaround while waiting for the update. However, one can't use the design with the Repeater (or Pattern) feature. It's as if the envelope shape effect no longer applied to the original object.
