Odd text spacing in imported svg file

When I open an svg file (not created in Vector Styler) in Vector Styler 1.2.35, spacing between letters in text is not correct. Some letters are too close together, others too far apart. The same file opened in Inkscape 1.3.2 does not show the same problem. The same file opened in Affinity Designer 2.5.3 does not show the same problem. The font is Times New Roman and all results are on the same machine.
