Flip Horizontal/Vertical Question
-
I'm having an issue with flipping an object horizontally or vertically, something TBH I've never given any thought to in AI as it always does it around the centre (AFAIK ). It seems that in VS the flip fulcrum is based on whatever corner/point of the bounding box is selected on the transform panel (which always annoyingly seems to default to the centre - but that's for another day ).
However, when looking for a workaround to this, I came across preferences/editing options 2/Adjusted transform centre - which says that if unchecked, it will transform around the centre of the object's bounding box (which is my preference) - but it doesn't seem to have any effect at all ?
I'm wondering if this is a bug, or do I need to RTFM againNeil

yes, this is by design. It was requested.
The preferences option is about whether to use the manually moved pivot center or not.

I just wanted to check this:
- Shape minus a bit - expected behaviour when flipping
- Pen tool drawn shape, closed, flipped horisontally but not around centre (with any pref setting)... why?
Short:
-
Added two objects handdraw with the pen tool:
Whatever the setting, I see the exact same behaviour. In this case there is a different behaviour when flipping the triangle vs the shape with more nodes, both created using the pen tool.

@VectorStyler It uses the first node as flipping center. In all my examples.

@Ingolf Added this to the backlog. I will try to solve it ASAP.
