Switch away from an existing open file to display the newly opened VS document file/tab when opening another file?
-
Could VS switch away from an existing open file to display the newly opened VS document file/tab when opening another file? Right now, if I open another file, the new tab will appear, but I have to manually switch over to the newly opened tab to see the file contents

@Boldline It doesn't always happen here. Seems to be a regression.
-
@Boldline Not seeing that here either.

@b77 @Ingolf So you're saying for you, it always goes to the newly opened file and away from the existing any time you open a new file with another one already open?

Yes, and regardless of what tab is currently active if I have several documents open.

@Boldline It happened here sometimes with the previous version (1.1.028), but didn't report it to the developer because I couldn't figure out the conditions.
And I can't replicate it now with 1.1.030.If you can replicate it there, write the conditions — if it happens after opening a file with the Open dialog, or directly from the 'Open Recent…' submenu, if it happens only with multiple document tabs, if all files are saved or not.

@b77 thanks for sharing that because right now (of course) it's working as I test it now, but earlier it was not (despite repeated attempts). It fails to work for me so often I'm used to having to go click on the newly opened file.
It sounds like there are some things that happen for all of us that are hard to pinpoint. (my option/alt modifier for lasso while using the node selector tool is another that rarely works for me and I cannot narrow down the issue)
I'll try to be more cognizant of when the issue happens to help @vectoradmin find it

I just noticed that the issue occurs for sure when I open an existing file that has live fonts in the document that need to be activated. The missing font window pops up and before I can do anything with it, the newly opened VS file is opened in the background as a tab but it is not switched to at all.

@Boldline Confirmed here!

@Boldline This looks like a bug. Added it to the backlog.
