Cut Path at Intersection
-
How to cut Path at Intersection? I couldn't find this option. Please help.
-
@Jayanta-Das To remove segments between intersection points, use the Trim and Join tool.
To just create points at intersecting locations, use the Object -> Shape -> Intersection Point.

@vectoradmin There is an option in AI called Path Intersection which is very useful. Like if we have many intersecting segment then we can cut all the segment at Intersection.

I know Trim and join. Create point at intersection is new to me. Learnt something new today. Thanks

@Jayanta-Das I add the improvement suggestions to the backlog!

This was a new one I learned today as well. Really great feature - love it! I can see a lot of great use for this tool. Thank you @vectoradmin
Throwing out this suggestion idea, would it make sense after creating point(s) at the intersection, for it to leave only those new nodes selected? Right now it adds the nodes at the intersections and then the selection overall remains the same - everything is highlighted. If I'm going through the steps to create new nodes at the intersection, more than likely I want to do something with them - for example, break apart the path at those selected new nodes. So it saves me a step to have to de-select, then go click on each newly created node to further edit them.

It only add node to one object. Or am I doing something wrong?
-
@Jayanta-Das Yes, it only adds nodes, will not cut the path.
There is one more option for this: when working with open paths, use the "Cut Out" boolean operation (first icon in the second group). This will cut the bottom path, but an additional "Break Apart" is still needed.

I understand. I thought that it add nodes to both the objects at intersection. It only add node to one object.
