It this a bug or feature 🙂

Guidelines snaps just to the canvas centre here. Vertical snapping consistently snaps to 10.5 while the horisontal really can't decide. Even if the difference between the two displayed values is just a matter of rounding I would expect it to snap to the exact same value every time.

@Ingolf I added a feature request a while back to have the guidelines use the alignment panel to be set in the center of an artboard, etc. This and/or the option to have it slight snap to center when you drag the guide across the artboard.

@Ingolf It's a bug, no doubt. VS measures the drag distance along the guide.

@Ingolf If possible, send me a file with the two guidelines and the snapping settings set to what they were in the video (I cannot see the artboard size there).

I see a horizontal snapping at 14,85 cm but not the other one.

@encart The drag distance (actually position) along the guideline is intended 🙂
All guidelines have (x,y) coordinates, even the horizontal / vertical ones.
Because: if rotated (guidelines can be rotated to any angle not just 0 or 90 degrees), the rotation will be around this (x,y) center.

When moving with the mouse, the guideline (x,y) center is set. In case of purely horizontal or vertical guideline, only one of these (x) or (y) has a visual impact, but both values are updated in the panel.

(Note: guidelines can be rotated visually, by starting the guideline dragging close to the view margin, it will show a different cursor).

@vectoradmin You're right. I only considered it in terms of vertical and horizontal guides. As you said, to find the position of a line in space, you need the coordinates (x, y) for at least two points.
I wonder if in the case of rotation of the guides it would be better if after selecting it there would be a handle for the rotation. While the space at the top and bottom is usually not covered with panels, I have a problem with rotation in the case of a horizontal one. Maybe the position of the handle should be based on the size of the working area.
For example, 20% of height / width from rotation center? And maybe Pivot point?

@vectoradmin I was too tired to understand what I was looking at. Consider this a user testing session that revealed some severe usability issues. 🙂

@Ingolf I added the new Guideline UI/UX to the feature request list.
