Can't select Selection tools

I am unable to use any of the object selection tools (marquee select, magic wand, lasso, etc.) If I click on the toolbar button I get the popout menu with sub-tool selection, but the select tool does not turn blue and I do not get a "select" cursor. Hotkeys for the object select tools do not work properly either.
Everything else on the toolbar works properly but I am totlly unable to use the object select tools.
Vectorstyler 1.2.051 running on MacOS 14.5

everything is working fine here, i am on win 10
same VS Version as youdont know whats happen
made a Video here so you could see what it looks like
( clicking once with the right Mouse Button on a Tool, will show the fly out Menu )

The select cursor should be the regular arrow cursor.
I assume you were trying to use these tools:
These will not turn "blue" when active, only a darker gray. For example: if you have the box select tool (as in the image), can you click+select objects, or draw a box to select multiple objects?
The reason why these "tools" are not highlighted with blue is to not to confuse these with actual active tools (pointer tool or node tool), as these selection modes can be active in combination of any of the other tools.
A short recording might help understand what happens (we use cleanshot, but anything with a link will do).

Hi sorry I forgot about this for a couple of weeks.
It works now. I think my problem was that I didn't realize you had to select the pointer tool before you could click-drag to marquee select.
