Some Select sub-menus under the Select menu misfiring

Some Select sub-menus under the Select menu will not work if artwork is grouped, eg Select By Style to select a similar fill colour. Ideally, this should work regardless of the artwork being grouped or ungrouped.
In some instances even the Shape Type > Text Shape fails to select text shape type even if it's not grouped.
I'm not so sure about the other selection options under the Select menu but will progressively report over time.

@William-Kansepa These selection modes also depend on options set in the Select -> Options menu.
In the workspace file I received by email, the "Select Siblings" is enabled, meaning that only object on the same layer (and level) or inside the same group are selected.
Disable this option and then all objects are searched for selection.
