Split Object Shape on gradients - a bug?

A Split Object Shape function (Object/Shape/Split Object Shape) on gradients gives this:
Shouldn't the outcome be something like this?

@Harry Not a bug. Currently the gradient is aligned to the object shape.
I will try to improve this in the future.
