Canvas rotation is all over the place

  • Hello, as a new user, I'm not sure what am I looking at. It seems this is a bug because I can't make sense out of this.

    1. Create a new document
    2. Open the Canvas Panel (Panel > Canvas & Artboard)
    3. Draw a rectangle (or whatever)
    4. In the Canvas Panel, select a rotation for the artboard. The artboard rotates using the selected rotation value.
    5. Now start clicking the various items in the Canvas Panel and the rotation will be all over the place.

In the attached video, I rotate the canvas by 30 degrees. Initially it looks ok. But then start clicking the various items in the Canvas Panel and you will see the canvas will rotate in a somewhat unintuitive way. Sometimes the canvas will be rotated 30 degrees and the rectangle will be straight. At other times the canvas will be straight but the rectangle will be rotated 30 degrees. At other times both the rectangle and canvas won't be rotated. This seems to be some weirdness but I let more experienced users take judgement on it.

@pentool Not a bug, here it is what happens:

    • the artboard (not the view) is rotated by 30 degrees.
    • canvas is not rotated.
    • think of this as having a large desk with a rotated page placed on it.
    • when selecting the artboard in the canvas panel, the artboard is shown with a "-30" degree rotation (check bottom-left of the screen).
    • in this case the artboard will look as not rotated (but it is) so it is easier to do layout on that artboard, while the rest of the canvas (other artboards and objects) will look rotated by -30 degrees.
    • when moving away from the canvas (to another one) and then back to the canvas no artboard is selected at first so the view rotation (in bottom-left of the screen) returns to zero and the artboard is shown rotated.
