The character tool has issues doing more than simple rotation

The character tool is acting a bit wonky when you do more than just rotate the individual letter in place. If you try to move it it seems to want to take off on you - the slightest change with the mouse cursor creates a large result with the selected letter.
It became impossible to move when directly clicking on it in that state and then scale was also affected for some reason.Here is a video of this happening.
