"separate at intersections" does not seem to be working properly for me

This may be a bug, or more likely I'm not doing something correctly. I'm trying to break off this extra piece by using "separate at intersections" but it does not seem to be doing what it is intended... none of the other options seem more appropriate. Is there a step I am missing?
UPDATE: I closed out VS and restarted it and nothing changed. It still did not separate on its own. I ended up deleting most of the extra shape with the path eraser and then that seemed to trigger the remainder of the shapes to be selectable and deleted independently... I can imagine this is what the tool is for though.

@Boldline Try with that action instead, and btw, you don't have to select nodes for this command or for the action.

@Boldline yes, this can be replicated on a similar case (the two points are close). I will try to fix this ASAP.
