Switching to pen tool while "Draw Inside" is active causes switch to "Draw on Top"
-
I was playing around with "Draw Inside" and love the many ways objects and brush strokes, pencil lines and the like can be created inside an existing shape. I love that it continues to draw inside even when switching tools so long as the containing shape remains selected.
I did notice that when I am using the "draw inside", if I switch to the pen tool, I lose my shape selection and the "draw inside" setting switches to the "Draw on Top". the only way it seems, to be able to use the pen tool with"draw inside" is to make a stroke with the brush or pencil tool and then click on the end of that path with the pen tool and the line can be extended using the pen tool.
I love having options to draw above, below and within, but having the pen tool switch to using "Draw on Top" can mess up my design arrangement if I'm not paying attention. Typically I use the "Draw Above" as my default.
Here is my video showing this - ignore the part where I forgot I needed the rectangle selected first before I could switch settings lol

Extending this topic - Even if I use a tool that properly shows inside a shape with "Draw Inside" selected, the minute I switch away to the node editing tool or transform tool and click away from the selected shape, it defaults back to "Draw on Top" Is there a way it can remember the last setting prior to switching to "draw inside" and return to that?
So for example, if I have it set to draw "Draw Above" and then select a shape and switch over to "Draw Inside" - add my lines and such inside that shape and then click away from the shape and thereby de-selecting it, it returns to the "Draw Inside" setting - not to "Draw on Top"
Maybe there could be a way for the user to set a preferred default from one of the first three options and then VS returns to that default every time?
Personally I'd much prefer it go back to the previously selected option - that would give the most flexibility and reduce the number of steps

I experienced the problem (more often with the tablet than with the mouse) and I changed my way by always drawing inside by setting the isolated mode (double click on the shape) first. It's more reliable.

@Boldline @Devil-Dinosaur Yes, this can be replicated easily and the root cause is identified. Will try to fix it ASAP.
EDIT: as a workaround, double click to isolate and then draw.
