Live text that is modified and copied and then pasted over text on path does not retain edits
-
I have live text that I altered the width of from its default width to be more narrow. I copied the altered live text to the clipboard and then applied to to existing text on a path. The new text replaced the old text, but the modification to the width was no carried over. The text is now back to it's default size on the path.
In the image below, you can see the modified live text at the bottom, and the result of pasting the copied to clipboard live text on the path.I would expect the text would paste exactly as it was copied

@Li-Xiao ok thanks - i wonder if it's a custom settings issue. I'll experiment some more

Was the width altered using the transform tool (scaling)? Send me a file with this example (containing both the original and the on path text).
I think there could be an ussue of the text is scaled (or transformed) as the Text on Path does not retain text transformations.

This transforms are ignored when the text is fit on a path.

@VectorStyler ok. If I wanted the text altered by the transform tool to be pasted as such pin a text to path, would I need to alter it in the appearance panel instead?

I think this this case you need to use a character scaling option from the Character Panel (expanded mode of the panel).
Also, there is a Settings that changes the character scaling when scaled with the Transform tool.
