      Would an option to create fractal glass effects like these be something VS could or should offer? Or is this more of a pixel based effect?

        @Boldline This is a pixel based effect. It could be added later to image effects (no plans for now).
        Maybe a similar effect can be found in the SVG effects of Inkscape, and those can be imported to VS
