Is there an option to only unlock items on a specific layer without unlocking all other layers as well? If I have multiple layers and they are all locked aside from the one I'm working on and I want to unlock a locked object in the current unlocked layer how do I do that without unlocking everything in the entire document?

option to only unlock items on a specific layer without unlocking all other layers as well

Select the layer where the items are (to be unlocked). The layer can be selected with the round knob in the layers panel.

Then use Select (menu) -> Select Others -> Select All Members. The uncheck the Object -> Locked menu.
