Is there a way to grab the handles of two nodes and move them simultaneously and affect the just the existing path but not move the actual nodes?
In this example, I show first with one node's handle selected what I am looking for. I want to adjust the path of the node, but not move the node itself. if i select both nodes and select their handles and move, the nodes move along with it. - which is what I do not ' want. It seems like the only way to select more than one handle is to select the nodes

@Boldline Set Preferences -> Editing Options 1 -> Control Handle Mode to "All".
You will need to deactivate and activate the node tool again to use the new settings.
Now, all control handles are shown, and it is possible to Shift+ select them.

@VectorStyler thank you - that solved it. Now that you mention it, I had purposely set it to 'single" a while back because of an unwanted side effect of having it set to "all". I do not rember what that issue was, but I will keep an eye out for it

It will be hard to select with the box selection.

Yes that was probably it! because I use the box selection by default. Hard to get the best of both worlds!

@VectorStyler Was just thinking about this more - it might be neat to be able to pick certain preferences options and customize them in a dropdown folder. So the customized choices in the dropdown folder would be the choices that the user may want to change more often than once in a while - but not as often as necessitating them being added to the custom part of the contextual tool bar. Not every preference needs to necessarily be available for the customized section - but those most easily able to have an alias added

this is one of those I'd add to a custom menu bar dropdown if that were possible

                  Maybe in the future.
