When doing a save as from VS, can it be arranged that only the filename - but not including the extension is highlighted - that way, I can simply type in the new filename without having to (annoyingly 🙂 ) re-type the vstyler extension. A really small thing, but just so helpful for lazy engineers like me 🙂

FWIW, the last time I opened AI was about three weeks ago (?) - can't believe that - just so I could open a dxf file someone sent me. Now, if VS could only open/save DXF, that would mean that I might not need to open AI at all 🙂

      TIA
      Neil

@Igull This happens only on Catalina and some other macOS versions, but here on Monterey (and Big Sur, IIRC) only the file name is selected.

But I would ignore that and just type the name without adding the '.vstyler' extension, and the app adds it automatically.

@Igull Btw, have you tried any of the DXF-to-SVG or DXF-to-PDF online converters like the one at https://cloudconvert.com/svg-to-dxf ?

Are these worse, same or better than the AI internal converter?

Tagging on to this topic - the ability to paste text copied to the clipboard into the save-as dialog box would be terrific

I had not tried this, but it's good to know- thanks!

@Igull I added this to the backlog: if not present, a ".vstyler" is appended automatically.

Yes, this is a problem that has been reported before.

On some MacOS version, pasting will not work in the save panel.

I have this issue open, and will try to fix it, but found no solution so far.

LOL, now why wasn't that my first consideration 🙂 🙂
I just assumed that it wouldn't parse that, patently it does 🙂

                    Thanks for that.
