Some months ago I had a feature request - I think - about preview of a single layer/object. In Affinity you can get a preview of an object/layer by ALT/Option clicking it.

I have now tried the quite excellent Inkscape 1.2 for Apple M1 (finally!) where I discovered a better and more clever solution. Hold down ALT/Option and let the mouse float down over the different layers/objects, and the individual objects/layers are highlighted when the pointer is over them.

Faster, smarter, simpler. Many fewer clicks.

@Ingolf Nice. Btw, Spacebar is also available, I wonder if it's not easier to use that instead of Option/Alt.

MacBook Pro (Intel) running Monterey 12.6.4

@b77 Space should be reserved for panning at all times unless an input field is active. I requested this a few times.

Anyway, both Affinity and Inkscape assigned the ALT/Option key for this so sticking to the same "logic" in Vectorstyler would make it easier (for me at least) to remember and use shortcuts across several programs.

I like the idea. If I let go on a selected layer or sublayer will it keep that item selected in the artboard?

Thank you. The best popsicle I know. It dates back to 1950 and still sells well for good reasons. Simple ice cream made of cream ice coated with excellent yellow lemonade ice. Can be bought in any kiosk even. So popular that today it is available as a drink in nightclubs and milkshake in cafes.

So when I had to try out Inkscape quickly on a hot summer day, the ice cream was everywhere in my mind. 😄

I remember loving that ice cream too, when I was a kid 🙂
