Keyboard shortcut to ignore snapping during an operation
-
Any option in VS to ignore snapping during operations like in Affinity? Could not find it myself.
Keyboard shortcuts in AffinityIn Affinity when you drag something and the snapping is in the way, simply hold ALT and it is disabled while the ALT key is pressed.
Otherwise I suggest something similar. I love snapping and use it 80% of the time in a document. For the many exceptions where snapping disrupts drawing, dragging etc. this is a brilliant shortcut and help.

@Ingolf In VS, the key is Command (on Mac) or Control (on Windows).
After the drawing or editing is started, hold Command to disable snapping temporarily.
And it can be customized in Preferences -> Modifier Keys.

@vectoradmin said in Keyboard shortcut to ignore snapping during an operation:

When snapping is active, if for example I select and go to move a rectangle whilst holding the Cmd key down, I can no longer move the rectangle because it activates the shape node editor tool.
-
@Jono The Cmd or Ctrl key should be pressed after you start moving the object or the node, to avoid switching to shape/node editing.
But even so, Cmd or Ctrl doesn't "cancel" snapping as it's supposed to. Probably a regression.

@b77 It seems to be working here (holding Cmd to temporarily, disable snapping).
Could be that some other option blocks it.
-
@vectoradmin It doesn't work even after resetting the app…
I wish it would, and I wish it would also do the reverse — snap to points, objects and artboard if you press Cmd after you start moving the objects or node, if these options are disabled.

@b77 I open a bug on this one. I have to replicate it.
