      Settings>Changing>Expand Group Opacity shows no difference in results whether checked or unchecked.
      What am I missing here?

        This is about how to handle soft mask and blend mode of groups when ungrouping.

        It does not affect clipping groups.

          Oh, I see. I had mistakenly thought that this would work on a normal group with a reduced opacity and when you ungroup it, the opacity reverts to 100% on all the ungrouped elements like how it is in other software e.g. Illustrator.

            In should also do that. I tested it and here it works.

              I just tested it again, and it's working! For the life of me, I don't understand why it was refusing to work in the first place. That's what pushed me to make the initial post.

                @William-Kansepa For some settings changes you may need to reopen the document (and for others, restart the app)

                  I think that could be the reason why it was refusing to work.

                  Maybe an indication to mark that a certain setting requires a restart after editing it? Other software have an asterisk to indicate restart.
