I'm trying to join open shapes to get a single path. The join shape tool on node tool context bar is doing that very well, but I'm often finding that it is greyed out and I can't figure what I did before differently (in the same working session) that made it active.

Seems a bit curious, but one part looks like a path but isnt.
Maybe because it is made with one of the curve tools ?

Here a video with some description

        some pics

yellow arrow seems made with a curve tool
(you need to "convert it to curve" than the join will work)
red arrow is a real path

here the ends of two "real" paths

@Subpath thank you very much for looking into this. It makes perfect sense now that I needed to convert the spiral shape to curves

              Aha 🙂
              Your welcome

Btw. the "Extend Path Tool" could also be helpful
in some circumstances by working with Spirals
(should converted to curves first of course)
