Navigator Panel- Pan View “Hand Icon” not always Appearing at Higher Zoom Magnification Levels

  • @vectoradmin

    Bugs:

    1. When you hover the Cursor over the Navigator Panel Proxy View Window Pane, the Pan View Hand Icon is not Appearing when you specifically hover over the “box” position indicator that shows where your zoom position is at. The Cursor Icon just stays the Plain Black Arrow instead.
    • It looks like this problem occurs when you are zoomed in at Higher Magnification Levels (at approximately 1000% and Up)

    • It appears the Hand Icon can’t “Detect” the box position indicator as you zoom in more and more because the box gets too small to be "recognized".

    1. Sometimes/occasionally when Rotating an object, then using undo, while the rotated object does indeed properly revert the object to the previous state on the Artboard, in the Navigator Panel it does not update and still shows the objected as rotated. This problem may not be restricted to rotating objects, but may apply to after you "undo" other things as well.

    @Vector-Rock (1) can be replicated, I think there should be a minimum box area for large zooms, to still allow panning.
    (2) The update can be delayed by some time, I will try to replicate this one and fix it.

    In my Post in the New Features and Ideas section titled "Improved Navigator Panel Slider Bar and added Navigator Icon", I mention that Adobe Illustrator uses a Red Outline colored Rectangle Box to show the Zoom Position. It has a thicker stroke than the thinner Black outline that VectorStyler uses around its box. Illustrator also doesn't have any Shading "inside" the Red Outline of the window either (see image below).

    Both the Red color and it being thicker makes it easier to see. The Shading in VectorStyler might be a hinderance to visibility as well.

    When at maximum zooming, Illustrators Red Rectangle Box becomes so small it looks like a "dot"; but despite it being a tiny spec, the Panning Hand Icon can still "detect it" and it can "grab" the red Dot and so you can Pan and move around.

    Here is Adobe Illustrator Navigator Panel showing its Thicker Red Outline and No Shading in the Box:

    @vectoradmin,

    I sent you a VectorStyler File and Screen Shots showing the Navigator Panel not live updating to match the what is displayed on the Artboard and with some Rendering problems.

    VectorStyler also Crashed shortly thereafter.

    @Vector-Rock I will add these to the backlog.

    @vectoradmin,

    Oooops, After reviewing my posts, I noticed I missed one very critical Bug in MOVING the "Zoom Position Indicator Box" in the Navigator Panel.
    .

    In Adobe Illustrator, you do NOT have to Hover the Hand Icon DIRECTLY OVER the “Red Zoom Position Indicator Box” to Move it.
    .

    Illustrator has Two (2) ways to Move their "Red Zoom Position Indicator Box":

    1. When you Hover INSIDE the the “Red Zoom Position Indicator Box”, the Icon is a “Back of an Open Hand with ALL FIVE FINGERS EXTENDED” (see image below).

      .
      .

    If you Left Click & start Dragging with the “Five Finger” Icon, it changes to a “Partially Clenched Fist (Grab)Icon so you can drag to Move the “Zoom Position Indicator Box” to the desired location (see image below).

    .
    .

    1. When hovering Inside the Navigator Panel itself, but OUTSIDE the “Red Zoom Position Indicator Box”, the Cursor Icon changes to an “Partially Clinched Fist with ONLY the INDEX FINGER Pointing Out” (see image below).

    THIS IS KEY:
    Simply LEFT CLICK anywhere Outside of the “Red Zoom Position Indicator Box” and the box will instantly be Moved and Centered based on where the TIP off the Index Finger is Pointing/Positioned.

    SUMMARY of VectorStyler BUGS in MOVING the “Zoom Position Indicator Box” in the Navigator Panel:

    1. When hovering over the "Zoom Position Indicator Box", the Cursor Icon is not changing from the Black Arrow to the Hand Icon (not detecting the box) at high zoom magnification, so you cannot click and drag to move it (previously reported).

    2. Left Clicking with the Black Arrow when Hovering OUTSIDE the “Zoom Position Indicator Box” does not MOVE the box and Center it (to the TIP of the Black Arrows Position (new bug reported in this post).

    Point number two (2) is the KEY PART that I forgot to mention in my previous posts.

    @Vector-Rock The fix for (1) will be in the next release. I will also try to push (2) into the next release.
    In this case the main reason was that there are some other hotspots outside of the move area, there is scaling (to zoom in/out) and there is rotating. But clicking outside of any of these may work.

    @Vector-Rock This is fixed in build 1.0.041. The additional issues reported in a separate thread will be fixed later.
