Path editing and errors

@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
- Hope this operation can draw lessons from Freehand.
Here you have to first set the nodes to Cusp mode, otherwise it will behave as a Smooth node.

@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
The path offset will go wrong after rounding the corners of this graphic
I could not replicate this.
Send me a file where the offset path was already applied.
-
@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
The editable text cannot be filled with color.
The problem here is that the Character Style already has a fill assigned to it (edit the character style from the Character Style panel, and go to the Style section).
This fill overwrites the object fill.I will try to find a solution for this after the next build.

@VectorStyler “Can the second question be solved first? It is used more frequently in daily life. Thank you.”

@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
- Hope to delete nodes continuously.
The problem here: pressing delete second time will delete the sub-path (continuous path) in a combined path.
That is not possible if an other node is selected. I will have to review what other apps are doing here.- After disconnecting the path, it is still combined. Hope to dissolve it.
Again I have to review what others are doing, but in VS this will create a composite path. Break Apart separates that into objects.
- The path offset will go wrong after rounding the corners of this graphic.
I could not replicate this.

Set the to nodes to smooth node type.
- The editable text cannot be filled with color.
This was fixed.
- After minimizing the program, the tool panel will float on the desktop. Hope these situations can be solved.
I could not replicate this.

@VectorStyler For the third question, a file was provided above. Review the video for the offset distance. This kind of rounded - corner graphic is very error - prone.
-
@VectorStyler 1:I have tested other programs, and none of them can delete points continuously. Only Freehand supports this. However, adding this feature will not conflict with the functions of VS itself, and the operation will be more flexible.
2:I've tried it. Illustrator and Affinity all separated.

Illustrator 6 deletes in sequence by clicking repeatedly on the "Remove selected anchor points" tool in the contextual menu. Only in one direction, flips to the other side when starting at the wrong end.
Remove selected anchor points

@monsterfox I reopened these (1 and 2) and will try to do it, maybe with a settings.

@VectorStyler 1. Now, consecutive dots can be deleted continuously, but the last dot cannot be deleted.
2. Pressing Alt + Delete to delete paths or nodes can separate objects, but pressing the Delete key alone still cannot separate objects.
3. In this form, the rounded corners can clearly show different thicknesses at the position of the rounded corners in the sketch mode or when the brushstroke is relatively thin. It is not known whether this is the problem that causes the path offset error. According to my operation, an error will definitely occur.
4. In the point - selection state, the parent - level graphic cannot be selected. The final selection of the parent - level graphic should not be the entire document, but the final level of the current graphic.
5. This error occurs when only the VS program is maximized in the program bar. Click on the VS program to maximize and minimize it, and the VS panel will appear on the desktop state.

@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
pressing the Delete key alone
This should delete nodes by smoothing the path between the nodes into a single segment. Should not create a disconnect scenario
-
@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
I could not replicate error (5), the one with the minimization from the last post.
-
@monsterfox said in Path editing and errors:
It is not known whether this is the problem that causes the path offset error
Yes, it is an offset "approximation" error for thin outlines (improved at larger zoom).
Also: for the offset path effect, there is a Precision field, that can be reduced (there is always a compromise between precision and number of nodes added).
