Why does cutting and pasting existing live text change the color and the font?

One thing I'm not really understanding about text in VS is when we cut and paste existing text - it changes the font and the color of the letters from the original. Why would they be set that way as default?
I'm assuming this is all a matter of switching the selection mode in the toolbox - something I need to still learn and investigate as I use VS... I'm wondering though, if the default selection mode should have these settings given it's the default mode in Illustrator for example and makes logical sense to a new user, with the option to switch to another mode as the default if the user feels so inclined.

@Boldline When copying (cutting) text, two versions of the text should end up in the clipboard. One with styling and one plain.
When pasting, the order should be to look for the styled first (if found).
Probably this is a bug.
