Improving the Drop Shadow tool
-
When using the new drop shadow tool, there's a disconnect between what I do with the toolbar tool and what I can do with the dedicated drop shadow panel. If I use the toolbar tool to make the drop shadow on the fly, I can set up a workable shadow, but I am unable to switch the shadow type to "block" unless I go in to the dedicated drop shadow panel and adjust it there) So it would be nice if the settings were more sticky - so if I set the shadow to be "block", then all future times I use drop shadow from the tool bar, it would be set by default.)
Maybe the solution is to add the other options found in the drop shadow panel to the context panel? So when the drop shadow toolbar tool is selected, releative options are available like choosing the "block" shadow option
The other issue is when I switch over to the drop shadow dedicated panel, whatever settings I made using the toolbar tool just prior get negated. After I adjust settings in the drop shadow panel, if I click "ok" it reverts back to whatever was set on the toolbar option and I lose all edits in the drop shadow panel.
Most every drop shadow I do involves the "block" option. So I have to always use the drop shadow panel to achieve this - but often even that is moot because I cannot get it to commit to the drop shadow permanently from the drop shadow panel.
Right now, unless I'm missing something, the drop shadow cannot be used because it constantly changes settings based on what mode I am using (toolbar or panel) and when I want to commit to the edits from the panel option, it does not keep them after clicking on "ok"
Here is a video showing this issue -
ok - I did see now that if I create a drop shadow using the tool bar option, I can still go up to the Styles menu and choose "drop shadow options" and I get the panel and the adjustments work from there.
I'll leave my original comment on the forum in case it prompts other ideas for improvement.
