I used the links panel replace icon which is located at the bottom of the panel to substitute the image.

I then proceeded to create another document and clipped the same high resolution image and the file size is smaller by a very wide margin (74.6kb).

Note that I used the same colour profile.

What could be causing this?

I have already sent the files to VectorStyler's email.

If you check in Links panel, the image is still linked not embedded.

Yes, but a copy of the image is also in the file. I will check why this happens.

To confirm that it's still linked, use an external image editor to edit and save the image file. The image will update in VS.

So in case of the VS files: in the larger document, the image is embedded into the document, while the smaller one only links to the image, and the image itself is not in the VS file.

Please note that both documents share the same size, profile and compression scheme. I have always used ZStandard compression without facing any challenges.

The reason for this is that saving the file with the large image using the ZStandard compression does not compress very much (about 50% only). This is not suitable for photographic images.

Selecting JPEG in the document options for image mode improves this.

What are the dimensions in pixels of the high resolution image?
